Porphyry imitations for violin and piano (2016)

This piece is inspired by the volcanic rock named Rhomb porphyry. In addition to East Africa and the Antarctica, it only exists in the Oslo region where I grew up. The species has a purple-coloured matrix, with separated pigments of feldspar and quartz, as rhomb-shaped crystals or phenocrysts. The consistency is both crisp and hard, fine-grained and coarse-grained.
